The Midwest Chapter/MLA Nominations and Elections Committee is seeking nominations for several leadership positions in 2023. Serving on the Midwest Chapter Executive Board is an excellent opportunity to build your leadership skills in a supportive environment. It's also a way to get to know our association and members better and to make an impact on the profession at the regional level.


The positions open this year are:

President-Elect (October 2023-October 2026)

· year 1 - President-Elect & member of the Awards & Scholarships Committee Time commitment: 12 hours

· year 2 - President

Time commitment: 20 hours

· year 3 - Immediate Past President & Chair, Nominations & Elections Committee

Time commitment: 15 hours

Recording Secretary (October 2023-October 2025)

· Time commitment: 15 hours

Treasurer (October 2023-October 2025)

· Time commitment: 15 hours

Candidate for Membership on the MLA Nominating Committee (October 2023-October 2024)

· Time commitment: 6 hours

The Professional Practice Committee of the Midwest Chapter/MLA invites proposals for contributed papers, posters, and lightning sessions for the 2023 Midwest Annual Meeting themed “Explore the Possibilities”. The meeting will be held virtually October 11-13, 2023.


Papers will have 15-20 minutes for presentation and lightning talks will have 5-10 minutes. Poster presenters will be asked to provide up to a 10-minute recording ahead of time and be available during a question and answer session about the poster. More details to follow in August after presenters have been notified.


We welcome presentations that were made at the 2023 MLA meeting in Detroit. Please consider presenting it again at the Midwest 2023 conference!


The deadline for submissions is Monday, July 17, 2023.

Notifications of acceptance or rejection will be made by August 14, 2023.
