The University of Louisville (UofL) Kornhauser Health Sciences Library (KHSL) invites applications from creative and self-motivated candidates for the position of Hospital Library Manager, providing information and research support to the students, staff, researchers, teaching faculty, and practicing clinicians of the University of Louisville (UofL) Rowntree Medical Library.

Primary Responsibilities:
Manage the operations, space, services and scheduling for the Rowntree Medical Library and information support for the UL Health System
Build collaborative relationships within clinical departments and UL Health entities to support information literacy and evidence-based practice
In conjunction with the Kornhauser Health Sciences Library (KHSL) administration, plan and set goals and objectives for the future of the Medical Library.
In consultation with the KHSL Director, maintain medical digital hospital-wide information sources, and hard copy and digital journal and book collections.
Provide evidence-based information support for nursing clinical and research groups.
Provide immediate information as requested using current technology and resources
Keep students, faculty, and staff in touch with emerging technologies and electronic information tools in the field of medicine
Provide proactive customer-oriented direct hands-on library department services. This responsibility includes activities such as in-depth references, online search training & accessing resources.
Commit to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility within librarianship, teaching, research, scholarly communications, and professional development
Supervisor to 1 FTE faculty and 1 part-time staff position
Provide reference support for KHSL
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent in library or information science by the time of hire. An advanced degree in a biomedical, nursing, bioinformatics, health education, or other relevant discipline by the time of hire, with demonstrated interest and/or expertise in health sciences librarianship, will also be considered.
Knowledge of biomedical and evidence-based practice literature, research, and tools
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship building skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats to diverse audiences
Demonstrated ability to think and react quickly
Ability to use current technologies and learn new trends for delivering library services
Demonstrated evidence of initiative and flexibility with planning and problem-solving
Ability to work creatively and effectively in a leadership role, as part of a team, and independently
Potential to meet scholarly activity and service expectations for promotion
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working with users in their environments, as opposed to the traditional library setting
Experience working within the clinical or academic health sciences environment
Understanding of evidence-based practice
Experience in a hospital or health sciences library
Experience using EndNote, RedCap or similar citation/data management software
Experience using LibGuides and/or other SpringShare products
Additional graduate degree or certification in a
related discipline
