  1. Preside at regular and special meetings;

  2. Send meeting announcements and a call for agenda items;

  3. Set meeting agendas;

  4. Confirm committee membership and appoint chairs;

  5. Make appointments to fill vacancies in offices and committees that occur during the year;

  6. Serve as ex-officio member of all committees.

Reflections from Outgoing President

Some of the benefits of being the president of KMLA include leading our state association in new partnerships, planning conferences, professional development opportunities, and getting to know my colleagues from across the state. The time commitment is not a lot and the experience is invaluable. If you are looking for leadership opportunities to help move our state association forward, this service position would be a great addition your CV. If you have any questions about this position, please don’t hesitate to contact Stephanie at stephanie.henderson@uky.edu

Next, we are hosting our showcase after elections. Showcase presentations are 5 minute updates on a project you are working on or something you would like to discuss with the group. Visual not required. Here is the form to fill out to present at the showcase: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdlNbD_70AFEFqkiSOqpMn2ivATwt40oOpsUsWP751Sb6rFsQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

Finally, we still need one more volunteer for the Joint Spring Conference Planning Committee. Please email me or Stephanie to volunteer.

Thank you, looking forward to meeting next month!

Medical Institutional Repositories in Libraries (MIRL) Symposium 2022

Save the date for the Medical Institutional Repositories in Libraries (MIRL) Symposium, a free virtual event with a focus on Institutional Repository (IR) management, curation, and promotion in a health sciences environment. The second annual symposium will take place virtually on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

MIRL Symposium 2022 is a platform-neutral conference. Our goal is to gather together IR practitioners and those with an interest in IRs at hospitals, academic medical centers, and other health settings for discussions and sharing of case studies and best practices for digital archiving of institutional content.

The conference will be a mix of presentation types. Potential topics range from the impacts of changing funding agency mandates, challenges and success in innovation, staffing, migration of repositories, and strategies for the continued promotion of open access health sciences content.

Our keynote will feature Dr. Lisa Federer, Data Science and Open Science Librarian at the National Library of Medicine, presenting on “The NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy: Roles and Opportunities for Libraries and Institutional Repositories.”

Please share with anyone who may be interested. Questions can be directed to Steven Moore, Librarian at Sladen Library, Henry Ford Health.
