Hi all – I am excited to begin the new year working with all of you in KMLA!
I want to start by giving a brief introduction to my background. I am currently the Nursing Liaison Librarian for the University of Kentucky Medical Center Library. I have been at UK for the past two years, prior to that I worked in medical and academic libraries in northeast Ohio. I am a native Kentuckian and I am thrilled to lead such an excellent organization in my home state. For anyone that is interested, you can read more about my professional experience on my website: https://bit.ly/2N5U5eY
My hope over the next two years is to continue the growth and collaborative relationships that have been established in recent years. The 2020 virtual conference was a great way for us to share our knowledge and experiences with members across the state. We plan to bring back the virtual conference this year. Once it is safe to travel again, we plan to continue traveling throughout the state to host our meetings. We also want to continue our commitment to the next generation of medical librarians, by seeking out opportunities to share experiences of medical libraries with students currently in library school.
One of my goals is to learn more about our KMLA members. I hope to meet all of the members, and learn more about you and your libraries. I want to hear about your successes and challenges. I also want to know what KMLA as an organization can do to help you professionally. One way in which you can help KMLA is by volunteering for a few committees and positions that we will announce soon. Please keep an eye out for a call for participation.
I am looking forward to learning and working with all of you!
